I tend to talk while my professor is lecturing for two reasons. For one, I am very ADHD, so I can not pay attention for long spans of time and if something comes to my mind, I just say it. For two, because I learn really quickly, so if they are going over the same topic for fifteen minutes and I already understand it I will begin talking out of habit.

Sometimes I might not be engaged in what the professor is saying and just start talking to someone around me, or something could pop in my head that I need to tell someone around me. I don't do this often though. I don't want to get behind.

About 25% of the time it is about what the professor is saying and helping understand it, but the other 75% is usually just because something else catches my attention.
A lot of times when I can't follow what the professor is saying I tend to talk with people next to me either about the lecture or start joking around with them to make me feel better about my situation.
I just want ask some question of the lecture. Also, if i always talk, because I already get all the knowledge for the lecture. I just think the professor's speech so boring.
The only time I talk while a professor is talking is when I'm seeking clarification on something by another student and I don't want to interrupt the flow of the professor by asking a question.
I speak when my professor is lecturing only if it is something that can't wait or I will forget if I don't say in that moment. Even when I am speaking I am still listening, maybe not to my fullest potential but I am, and I am very quiet so I don't disrupt anyone else that is listening.

When I talk during a lecture it is to either clarify something the professor has said or to answer a question a classmate has asked me. If I missed something or something the professor said is unclear to a classmate, I attempt to get an answer or answer the question without interrupting the lecture.
Sometimes, if I accidentally missed something, I might whisper to the person next to me to ask them to clarify something. I might also ask them to view their notes to see what I missed.
The topic isn't interesting, I have a lot of built up energy, or I am distracted by a conversation I feel is more important than my professor's lecture.
If I ever speak to someone besides the professor during a lecture it is because I do not understand part of the lecture and am too embarrassed to ask out loud.
I usually only do this if someone else addresses me about a question. Otherwise, I find it very rude and personally would like to learn and hear what the teacher is saying.
I usually talk while my professor is talking if I need to ask my neighbor a question about the lecture. If I missed something that he or she said then I will ask for help from those around me.
If I talk while the professor is talking it is because I do not like to ask questions during class. I would rather ask a class mate first so I would normally ask my friend a simple quesion to clarify or to see if my class mate understands it the same way I did. Another reason I talk is becuase the professor has brought up a topic that reminded me of something that I need to tell my friend sitting beside of me. The classroom is not somewhere that a conversation should happen while the professor is talking but sometimes it is hard to keep it in until after class.
I refrain from speaking while the professor is lecturing unless I am confused about something that is said or get lost in the lecture. I try to make it as least noticeable as possible, and usually I will try to quietly lean over to my seat neighbor and ask for clarification if necessary.
I usually whisper in class because I haven't seen my friends in so long and it literally excites me to be in one room with all of them. My friends and I are clowns, so no matter where we go we have to laugh, socialize and be loud. I say whisper because I try not to be loud because I feel like I'm being disrespectful to my teacher.
Usually I do it because I am clarifying information or something was so funny that I feel like I have to whisper something to a friend. Other than that I am pretty good at not talking in class.
Sometimes my friends and I are a conversation where if we stop, we would forget what we were talking about. So we just finish it (quietly and secretly) while the professor is talking, so we won't have to finish it later.
If I ever got caught talking while a teacher was I probably couldn't wait to the end of class to say it. I would have probably forgot what I was going to say if I waited.

ReplyDeleteUsually if I talk while the professor is talking its usually about what he or she is talking about or I am just having a really good conversation.
