I lie to try to hide mistakes and imperfections. I lie because I don't want people tohave negative feelings towards me. I lie because I have a sinful nature.
Sometimes I lie to prevent someone from getting hurt. Other times I lie because I am embarrassed to admit the truth. I lie because I don't want people to think negative thoughts about me.
When I think of lying, I think of getting out of trouble. When I was younger, lying became an easy fix, even though it ended up making the situation worse in the end. Stretching the truth is easier to fall into then flat out lying. So for the most part, lying is used to cover up something that should not have happened.
I sometimes tell a lie in order to try and save someone from getting hurt or in order to save myself from getting in trouble, in order to protect my image, or because am I embarassed by the truth. I try to avoid lying at all costs but I am guilty of it at times!
I will sometimes lie to prevent a situation from getting worse, but in the end it never works that way. I lie to make a story seem better or to make myself look better. I lie because I am afraid of the truth and what people will think about me.
I lie sometimes in order to prevent from hurting someones feelings. Also i lie sometime in order to not tell someones privacy issues that has asked me not to tell. And lastly badly enough i lie sometimes when i am on the spot and asked a question that i am not comfortable with answering.
I lie sometimes to keep from hurting others feelings. I lie to myself about how I look and feel about myself. I lie sometimes to keep from looking dumb. Sometimes I dont want to lie but the lie just comes out of my mouth.
I lie simply because sometimes the truth is either too hard, complicated, hurtful, or just plain boring. I stretch the truth on several occasions simply to tell stories or to keep the conversation going. I don't lie about huge things and I'm pretty up front with people but if I ever get caught in a lie I know that the relationship with that individual is injured and will take time to heal.
I lie sometimes because I feel like it's easier. I'd rather not deal with the conversation that the truth would require so lying relieves me of that duty. Other times it's to keep from hurting people's feelings.
The few times that I do lie is to save the emotions of the person I lie to. Other times I lie to not spill something too personal to those who need not know of it.
Sometimes lying is done for good things. I lie so I don't hurt others. Witholding information is better sometimes than telling them what is really going on.
I lie to because I feel I need to sometimes to spare someone's feelings or to prevent confrontation. I also lie to prevent some people from knowing exactly how much money I have, because they want to borrow money from me all the time.
I lie because telling the truth is hard. Sometimes lying is just easier. I know it is wrong, and I am trying to be a more honest person, but I know I am human and will make mistakes.
I would have to agree with most everybody else that has commented. Sometimes i lie to prevent hurting a person's feelings. Other times i lie to prevent revealing information that was meant to be kept a secret.
The only times I lie is to protect someone else or their feelings or to help ease a situation. Although I'm not saying lying is okay at all sometimes it's somewhat necessary to help someone.

People may lie to protect others, to deceive, or even to just be doing it. I believe that everyone lies; its a part of our human nature.

I only tell a lie if it is going to keep from huring someone. Usually I try to refrain from saying anything at all if I am going to have to lie.

I lie by exaggerating a story. I like to tell good stories that are about 80% truth with 20% exaggeration.

Because people pester me about personal stuff that is none of their business. So, I lie to get them to leave me alone.
