Well, there are times when it'd be most polite to just blow your nose instead of continuously sniffing. I normally walk away from the table, but there are also times when you don't have the choice because you just sneezed or something like that.
There is times to blow you nose and there is times when you shouldn't. When you are sick, you can't help that. And my dad might do it every now and then, so it runs in the family.

If I am sick with a nasty cold and the choice is to either have it all over my face or blow it out, I am going to have to blow it.
