In large cities, I do look both ways so that I do not cause an accident. However, when I am at school, in the comfort of my own campus, I trust that the people driving will pay close attention and stop for me. This probably is not a very considerate mentality, but I do not think about looking both ways on campus
When I'm on campus, I don't really care if I look or not. If I'm by myself I will, but f I see others ahead of me already in the road, I don't mind walking across because the car is already stopped/stopping. At home, I don't walk places that I could just drive to so I don't have to worry about that.
On campus, I don't always look both ways because I'm usually passing in a group of other people. When I'm in Knoxville or anywhere off campus, I usually look.

I think most of crosswalks have stop sign and traffic light. All the driver will more careful. I don't need worry about it.

So I don't get hit by a car.
I'm thinking about something in my head and not paying attention.
