I play my music loud so that everyone can hear me coming. I play my music loud so that I can't hear my awful voice singing along (off-key) to the lyrics. I play my music loud to drown out the other music that I don't like.
I think for me it comes from insecurity. I'm hoping for affirmation- someone to say "I love that song"- or somehow think I'm cool becuase of what I'm listening to.
Sadly, I believe it usually has the opposite effect.
I play loud music in public places because sometimes from the type of music I play, a person can determine what mood I'm in. For example, If I'm headed to go workout or do any sporting activities, I'd listen to Rap or Hip-Hop.
I play my music loud just because I like to listen to loud music. I dont care about wanting people to know im coming or me wanting someone to hear my music. I just love to listen to my music loud. I think it gives people a sense of freedom of speech almost like they can let people know what they think on topics through music. I believe that is why some people listen to loud music.
-self-expression -want to be discovered (unless your music is just so bad you need people to go deaf before they like it) -only care about their own mood -want to "feel" the music -think they can only b/c they are "free" to do so
are loud, rude, inconsiderate and if I had it my way - would all be deaf.
"it also puts people in a better mood and more comfortable around others." - WRONG. You put everyone else in a shit mood by blasting music only you want to hear. Don't think so much of yourself - people DO NOT think your taste in music is good. People like you make it thoroughly unpleasant and uncomfortable in public places.

Just b/c you have freedom doesn't give you the right to abuse it in a public place. You're the type of person I call the cops on for public disruption.
----- All you people who think it's okay to listen to loud music, like the idiot who "plays my music loud to drown out the other music that I don't like"....I'm sure you'd get your own panties in twist if people blasted loud music that YOU didn't like....so try to stop thinking about just yourself for once and enjoy your precious music BY YOURSELF.
Because I'm a DJ to be honest, loud is the only level I know. I also like to look at life as a party and you have to have good tunes to make you move. I also think loud music can bring people together, you wonder what someone is listening to and you strike up conversation. On a final note, Music was meant to be played loudly. It is an artistic expression that truly brings people together, but you can't do that if people can't hear the music.

I'm a singer - a loud singer. And, to be able to still hear the music along with my singing, it has to be LOUD!
Plus, I still have the fantasy of being "discovered". One day, it will happen!

It is the only thing that makes driving fun. Playing loud music and singing along while driving helps the time pass by quicker.

I play loud music (punk), but I ALWAYS turn it down when I approach a red light, or other areas where it would disturb other drivers.
Nothing makes me as angry as people who insist their hip hop bass vibrates my vehicle.
