Why do you talk on your cell phone in a restaurant?

Usually I am just with my mom or with my friends in a restaurant so it is a very informal occasion. I do try to be quiet thought, and not disturb any one.
The only time I ever talk on my phone in a reastaurant is when it is an important phone call. Because so many people text now if I get a phone call it's usually because it's something pretty important that can't wait for me to see the text and reply to it.
I have a really bad habit of assuming phone calls that I recieve at odd times are emergency phone calls. So if someone close to me knows I am at a resturant and calls me, I usually assume its an emergency or urgent so I answer.
I feel as if I have to answer the phone anytime anyone calls and being in a restaurant is no exception to this. I always answer to ensure that the call is not something important because the one time I do not answer is when it will be extremely important. Thus, I will continue to answer the phone at a restaurant.

I tend to do that a lot because it could be a really important call if I am out on a date

I always answer my phone. I feel like it could always be an emergency. Then I'm too nice to tell people I want to get off the phone with them.
I never know whether whoever is calling has an emergency or not.
