I feel like if the silence keeps going, it will make the awkwardness even more intensified, therefore I am compelled to speak up to avoid the awkward situation.
I feel the need to speak up when faced with silence because I do not like awkward moments. When there is silence, it is usually an awkward situation and I would rather say something and start a conversation than stand in awkwardness.
I feel compelled to speak when silence arises because usually get a thought or idea in my head that should be voiced. I like silence when I'm alone, but not with friends and family.
I hate the awkward pauses that happen when everyone runs out of something to say during a conversation. Therefore, if no one speaks first, I may try to break the silence.
Society's best interaction is with verbal communication. From birth this is what we know and the only way we feel comfortable. Without it, we feel lost and feel like something needs to be said.
For some reason I feel like it is rude to the person I am with if there is silence because it seems like I don't know what to say, I'm not interested, or I am not engaging with them in the conversation. In a group setting, silence just feels awkward so I always try to make conversation.

Because silence can be awkward at times. So I speak to break the awkwardness.

To fill the void of not talking. I always like to chat in social situations.
It's a natural reaction, I avoid awkward moments so I carry on conversation
No one likes that awkward silence.

I try to break the awkwardness of the silence because others may be too afraid to do so
Silence can be awkward. I don't want those around me to feel awkward so I usually try and fill the void of silence.
I hate awkward silences. I also never want people to think that I am unfriendly, so I always try to have a constant conversation with others.
I usually don't. In the rare instances that I do, it is because my stomach hurts and the burp comes out before I have time to excuse myself.

it just happens when you dont want a situation to be awkward.
To avoid the awkward silence, because who likes that.
I only do this if I don't know the person I'm talking to very well! It feels awkward to sit in silence sometimes.
I am not used to silence and I do not like the feeling of being possibly alone is any conversation.
I feel awkward when it is quiet and I don't know the person well because it means we have run out of things to say.
I don't like for the conversation to die off and get awkward
Silence is boring and upsets me, so I'll make a joke or something to make it stop being weird.
For some reason I feel like it is rude to the person I am with if there is silence because it seems like I don't know what to say, I'm not interested, or I am not engaging with them in the conversation. In a group setting, silence just feels awkward so I always try to make conversation.
I start to feel a little awkward and then the pressure of talking pushes me to talk
I hate silence so I always feel the need to say something so that someone is actually starting a conversation and making it less awkward.
I'm not comfortable with silence sometimes because it can feel awkward.
If I don't know the person, it feels awkward. If I am comfortable with the person and know him/her enough, I won't break the silence.
