So that if I do miss I don't get pee where other people are likely to sit. I also am usually rushing to use the bathroom because I wait until the last minute and it is just one less step to take.
The reason I do it because its usually very late at night and I am half sleep while using the restroom. I'm so tired that once I left it up handle my business I forget that it has to go back down.
I leave the toilet seat up because women are just as capable in putting it down as I am raising it up. In fact, it's easier on them since they have gravity helping them lower it down. Also, in these modern times, women love to talk about how they are independent, strong, and capable of doing everything a man can-- ok, fine; you just earned your right to put the toilet seat down and not have a man do it for you.
Life is a circle where everything followings a cycle. I use the bathroom, I put the seat up. I flush. When a girl needs to use it she has two good arms to put it back down. So it just keeps the cycle going.
Usually, I use a urinal if I have to go pee, but if I go to a public toilet that does not have a urinal, I always leave the seat up since I do not want to touch it. It makes me feel sick.
I'll leave the toilet seat up out of habit. I have my own bathroom and never make a mess, so I do not find it necessary to put it back down. I don't find it socially unacceptable either.
I lift the toilet seat up initially out of courtesy. I am a male, so when i use the restroom I do not want to pee all over the seat where people will be sitting. I usually do a pretty decent job of putting the seat down but sometimes I just completely forget. A lot of the times I am in a hurry and just going to the restroom as quick as possible. I guess it is just easier to leave it up and move on with your day. The thought has definitely crossed my head that if the next person needs to put it down, then they can move the seat themselves.
I leave the toilet seat up at my house because I have my own bathroom and no one else uses it. When I am at someone else's house though, I will put the seat down to be polite.
I put my feet on others peoples dash board because its a more comfortable position for my hips and back and I also think that it’d because it makes me feel safer.
I always leave the toilet seat up unless I took a number 2, then I'll put the seat down. Because I feel putting the toilet seat down traps the smell, but if I don't create a smell then I don't see a point in putting the seat down.

Because women have arms capable of putting the seat down!
I don't, I'm a girl. Unless I'm cleaning and accidentally leave it that way.
Because it is too much of a hassle to put it down.

I leave the toilet seat up because I am a man for one, and because i have my own restroom. I do not second guess leaving it up.

Because I am a guy and don't have to sit very often
Plain and simply sometimes I just forget to put it back down. Most times I am courteous, and lower it back down.
I usually don't share my toilet with anyone and so it stays up most of the time.
Because I too am a guy and it is second nature to me to not put the seat down. rude I know but it never comes to mind.
do not really think of putting it down.
too lazy to put it down.
I leave it up because I'm the only person who lives here. But I'll let it down if I have company
because I forget to put it back
I normally just don't remember to put the seat down, I don't do it on purpose
I never leave it up because my parents taught me better.
I just forget to put it down after I use the toilet. It is easier to leave it up.
Usually I forget to put it down. I don't do it on purpose, but it's not as if it I am greatly inconveniencing the next person to use it.
So my girlfriend might accidentally fall in. Also, more times than not, I do not have to sit anyways.
I'm a guy, so its just easy to run to the bathroom and pee and then leave. When the toilet seat is up, I could just go back and do it again.
